Al Jazeera Journalist Shot Dead By Israeli Army

May 11, Kathmandu- Shireen Abu Akleh, a correspondent for Qatar's Al Jazeera news channel, was shot dead by Israeli forces in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.

Akleh was covering Israeli raids in the city of Jenin. Al Jazeera's West Bank correspondent Nida Ibrahim said the cause of death was not clear, but a video of the incident showed Abu Aqleh being shot in the head.

Ibrahim said: "For now, all we know is that the Palestinian Ministry of Health has declared her dead. Shireen Abu Akleh was covering the events unfolding in Jenin, specifically, an Israeli raid on the city, which is north of the occupied West Bank, when she was hit by a bullet to the head”, Ibrahim said, speaking from the Palestinian city of Ramallah.
