May 21, Kathmandu- A temporary police officer has been arrested in Jhapa on the charge of raping a girl.

The accused is 30-year-old Kamal Prasad Pokhrel of Tapli Gaonpalika-5 of Udayapur. Police arrested him on Friday from Ward No. 2 of Gaurigunj in Jhapa while he was on duty.

He is accused of taking the 14-year-old girl to Gahate forest in the same ward and raping her on Tuesday. According to the District Police Office, Jhapa, Pokhrel was sent to Udaipur by the police. Pokharel was a temporary police officer from Jhapa for the 2079 local-level election.
