Gorkha Will Be Imparted Disaster Risk Reduction Education Through Sports!

Jun 20, Kathmandu: Students of 16 different schools in Gorkha will be imparted disaster risk reduction education through sports. Sports materials have been prepared accordingly with the objective of inculcating and teaching disaster risk reduction in the minds of children.

Integration Nepal Gorkha on Monday distributed sports materials related to disaster risk reduction in 16 schools in the district. Chief of Gorkha Napa Krishna Bahadur Rana distributed the materials during a program held at the Gorkha headquarters.

Seven different types of game materials related to disaster management, how to make paper rental, disaster-related snakes and fright, fire-related relay races, landslide, and erosion-related handkerchief games, emergency materials attendance response, disaster life cycle games, and accident safety luck games have been sent to the school.

Executive director of Integration NepalHari Davekota said that sports materials were distributed to eight schools in Warpak Sulikot, seven schools in Gorkha Municipality, and one school in Siranchok village. He said that sports materials were distributed with the objective of imparting disaster risk reduction skills to the students through sports to localize disaster risk reduction education.

The sports materials have been developed on the basis of knowledge and skills acquired from the teachers of the respective schools in the past, said Deepak Marhatta, Project Director, Integration Nepal. Mayor of Gorkha Municipality Krishna Bahadur Rana said that such programs would help the children to develop practical knowledge, skills, and abilities as Nepal is at high risk in terms of disaster risk.

Materials distributed under the auspices of the US Embassy under the Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund AEIF have been distributed to 16 schools in Gorkha Municipality, Warpak Sulikot Village Municipality, and Siranchok Gapa.
