New Meeting Of HoR Not Being Held In The New Building At Singha Durbar

Sept 30, Kathmandu- The new meeting of the House of Representatives to be elected from the November 20 election will not be held in the new building at Singha Durbar.

According to the Secretariat of the Federal Parliament, preparations for the meeting will begin soon after the Election Commission announces the results of direct and proportional voting. Although elections were held in Mangshir 2074, the meeting was held only in Falgun.

A member of the Parliament Secretariat says that it was delayed because the laws and other laws had to be prepared, "Now, the meeting can be held one and a half months after the election".

But by that time, the new building of the Federal Parliament will not be ready in Singha Durbar. On 2 October 2019, the contract for the construction of the Federal Parliament building was awarded for 6 billion 92 million rupees. According to the initial contract agreement, the parliament building was supposed to be ready on 1 October 2022.

During the Corona pandemic, the contract period reached 30 Chaitra 2079 after the extension of 6 months by the builder. But even during this period, the federal parliament building will not be ready.
