Nov 29, Kathmandu- The Ninth convention of the National Federation of the Disabled of Nepal started in Nepalgunj on Tuesday.
Chief Justice Dr. Ratna Bagchand inaugurated the national convention of the Federation which started on Tuesday in Balegaon, Nepalgunj.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Justice Dr. Bagchand said that the Constitution of Nepal does not make discriminate between disabled and non-disabled citizens and said that citizens with disabilities should also be given opportunities and rights.
He emphasized that the government should give more importance to the disabled.
The opening program was presided over by Mitra Lal Sharma, President of the National Disabled Federation of Nepal, outgoing President of the Federation Sudarshan Subedi, former President Dr. Birendra Raj Pokharel and Deepak Koirala, President of the National Democratic Disabled Association Bhojraj Shrestha, President of the Disability Organization Nepal Tikaram Parajuli and others wished the convention a success.
More than a thousand delegates from all over the country are participating in the two-day convention.
The convention also has a program for electing the new leadership of the National Disabled Federation.
