Feb 2, Kathmandu: Local residents are angry against Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah 'Balen' saying that Kathmandu Metropolitan City has gone to extremes.
On Sunday, the local residents staged a pressure-based protest against Balen, saying that the dozers were used on the buildings and structures built on the private land of the people where the map was passed. Campaigner Suman Sayami has warned that the day may come when Mayor Balen who has ignored it, will be chased.
Speaking to Sanjeeb Regmi on the Headline Nepal Bishesh program with Suman Sayami who is also a campaigner and a candidate for Mayor Balen's election said, 'The development needed by the people is achieved through their own struggle.
Sayami said that the mayor's opposition to grass, housing, and cotton which are established as fundamental rights by the constitution is questioning whether he is above the constitution. Remembering that the people even threw the king away. Sayami said, 'I have been elected for five years. One does not think that one cannot do anything.
If it is not improved, there may be a situation where the people will run away.' He says that there is a growing suspicion that Balen colluded with the contractor and tried to get a commission by using them for the construction work only.
He alleges that the representatives of the ward, who become witnesses to the wrong done by the metropolis, have also been sold. Sayami said that he is ready to help even now if the people who are on the streets against Balen go ahead to solve the problem by calling for talks.
