Nagarik Unmukti Party MP Arun Kumar Chaudhary Been Arrested

Feb 02, Kathmandu- MP Arun Kumar Chaudhary of Nagarik Unmukti Party has been arrested.

Chaudhary, who was elected as a member of the House of Representatives from Kailali-2, was arrested by the Banke police on Thursday afternoon, sources said. Chaudhary was found guilty of the case of setting fire to public property. On August 19, 2009, a fire broke out in a tractor that was going to Lamki taking marbles from Goranga river in Kailali.

Mahadev Bajgai, a tractor owner from Motipur, filed a complaint against Parashuram Chaudhary, Arun Chaudhary, and Bir Bahadur Chaudhary for setting ablaze his tractor. He claimed that he should get compensation of Rs 8 lakh 75 thousand.

In the same case, District Court Kailali sentenced MP Chaudhary to 6 months imprisonment and to pay Rs 8 lakh 19 thousand. The police said that he was arrested from Kohalpur in Banke to implement that decision.
