Holi Being Celebrated Today Inside Parikrama Path In Madhya Pradesh

Mar 26, Kathmandu- Holi (Hori, Phagu) festival is being celebrated in the center of Mithila with Janakpurdham, the main center of ancient Mithila culture.

On the last day of Madhya Parikrama, Holi is being celebrated today within the Madhya Parikrama Path, as per the old established custom of celebrating Holi on the day after the Panchkoshi Parikrama of Janakpurdham. The last link of Madhyamik Parikrama was conducted on Monday.

There is a tradition of circumambulating 15 days in Mithila Madhya within a circle of 133 kilometers between Nepal and India, keeping Janakpurdham in the center (middle).

This journey, which will be started on the first day of February, is completed on the morning of the 16th day, after the internal circumambulation, preparations for Holi will begin inside the circumambulation path.

This year's Holi is being celebrated today in this area of Mithila after the tradition of celebrating Holi has been established by the participants of the circumambulation.

In the middle, the circular path includes Janakpurdham, Jaleshwar, Mahendranagar, Dhanushadham, Loharpatti and Matihani. Apart from this, local levels including Bhangaha, Balwa, Pipra, Mahottari are within this circle.

The main city center of this region is full of excitement of Holi today. Earlier on last Sunday, Hindus of Parbate origin and Madhesh monks, followers of Math tradition and common people from different places of Madhesh already celebrated Holi on Monday.
