Fire in Gulmi: 28 houses burnt, damage of more than two crores

Apr 21, Kathmandu- In Gulmi, 28 houses have been destroyed by fire. The fire that lasted until Saturday night damaged Isma Rural Municipality-1, 2 and 4 and Gulmi Darbar Rural Municipality of the district.

The house of Basundhara Kunwar of Isma Rural Municipality-1 has been completely burnt. Local Ramesh Thapa's house, Hom Bahadur Malla's house, Lila Bahadur Thapa's house, Tika Bahadur Rayamajhi's house and Ram Bahadur Thapa's house were burnt. Similarly, Beat-Grind mill, grocery shop and shed, along with Chandra Bahadur Kunwar's house, Gopal Bahadur Thapa's grocery shop, Dharmaraj Thapa's house and mill and Indra Bahadur Thapa's grocery shop and three sheds were destroyed, informed Shankar Prasad Pokhrel, spokesperson of District Police Office Gulmi.

The fire that broke out in the Ranibari Community Forest of Sindukha, located in Isma Rural Municipality-2, spread to the settlement from Saturday afternoon. As a result, the houses of 15 people of Hastichour were burnt and dozens of livestock died, according to the police. Police spokesman Pokhrel said that the fire that broke out in Crowd of Isma Rural Municipality-4 also burnt the sheds of Tokali Basnet, Surya Bahadur and Gunj Bahadur Basnet.

19-year-old tractor driver Himal Rana and 21-year-old Prem Rana of Musikot Municipality-7, Paltar were injured due to the fire in Isma Rural Municipality-1. Their limbs and faces are burnt. The injured are being treated at the Gulmi hospital in Tamghas. The tractor number 6535 has been burnt due to the fire.
