John Kerry Traveling To China  For Seek Consensus On Climate Change

April 14, Kathmandu- US Special Envoy for Climate Change John Kerry is set to visit China to explore China's commitment to mitigating the effects of climate change.

US President Joe Biden is holding a climate conference next week. Earlier, Kerry traveled to Shanghai in an attempt to persuade China.

Kerry is set to travel to China following diplomatic tensions between the two countries at the United Nations. The United States and China are working together to reduce carbon emissions significantly.

The United States wants China to stop building coal-fired power stations. The United States also wants China to stop providing financial support to coal-based plants or industries abroad.

China wants the United States to provide developing countries with adequate funding for clean energy-based technologies and climate change adaptation. China also expects the United States to cut carbon emissions significantly.

"There is no substitute for cooperation and coordination on the issue of climate change," Kerry told CNN. He says there is no alternative to uniting on climate change, even if there is disagreement on other issues. According to US media, Kerry is going to China to seek consensus.
