Karnali Chief Minister Shahi Will Take A Vote Of Confidence On Friday

April 14, Kathmandu- Karnali Chief Minister Mahendra Bahadur Shahi is preparing to take a vote of confidence in the state assembly on Friday. In a letter to the Provincial Assembly Secretariat, he requested to make necessary arrangements for the purpose of taking a vote of confidence in accordance with Article 188 (2) of the Constitution of Nepal.

After the CPN-UML withdrew its earlier support to the CPN (Maoist Center) -led state government in the Karnali provincial assembly, Chief Minister Shahi was forced to take a vote of confidence. A meeting of the UML parliamentary party had withdrawn its support to the state government on April 19. The Maoist center leader has been appointed as the Chief Minister in accordance with Article 168 (2) of the Royal Constitution. A vote of confidence must be taken within 30 days of a party withdrawing its support to a chief minister appointed by two or more parties. That deadline is ending Friday.

Minister for Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives, and Government Spokesperson Vimala KC said, “A vote of confidence is to be taken on March 13. A letter has been registered in the Parliament Secretariat for that. It will be known on the same day whether one gets the vote of confidence or not. '

The seventh (winter) session of the state assembly is also starting on Friday. According to Province  Assembly Secretary Jivraj Budhathoki, the ordinances brought by the state government will be tabled in the first meeting of the convention to be held on Friday. The ordinance will be discussed and the Speaker will read out the letter regarding the division of labor of the Minister. After the resignation of three UML ministers, Chief Minister Shahi had given the responsibility of the vacant ministry to two other ministers. Minister for Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives Vimala KC is in charge of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Planning and Social Development, and Minister for Internal Affairs and Law Naresh Bhandari is in charge of the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment.

Province  Assembly Secretary Budathoki said the no-confidence motion would be finalized on Friday. "Due to the constitutional deadline, the chief minister has to decide on the motion of no-confidence on the same day. The chief minister has to ask for a vote of confidence and the leaders of other parties have their say on the motion," he said. The meeting will be decided by the meeting of the advisory committee on Thursday. After the leaders make their comments, the process of splitting the vote on the proposal will begin.
