Lumbini Province: UML MP Rama Gharti Has Chosen Ekikrta Samajwadi Party 

Aug 31, Kathamndu- Members of Parliament (MP) from Palpa of Lumbini Provincial Assembly Rama Gharti Magar has chosen CPN-Unified Ekikrta Samajwadi Party.

After the split of the CPN-UML and the registration of the Madhav Nepal-led CPN-UML, Gharti reached the state election office in Dang and chose the Samajwadi Party. Gharti has informed the office that she has chosen the CPN-Unified Socialist Party. Gharti's signature has been identified under the guidance of State Election Officer Minraj Bhattarai. Bhattarai said that one of the lawmakers had chosen socialism.

According to him, the records of political parties and members of the state assembly are being updated after the Election Commission wrote a letter to the Lumbini state assembly secretariat. With Gharti's choice of socialist, the number of political parties represented in the state assembly has reached six. The UML had 37 MPs in the 80-member state assembly.

After Gharti elected CPN-Unified Ekikrta Samajwadi Party, the number of UML MPs has now increased to 36. She is rumored to be a minister in the coalition government.
