Oct 22, Kathmandu- The government is giving vitamin A and anti-parasitic drugs to children under the age of six months to five years.
According to the Nutrition Branch of the Family Welfare Division, the medicines will be administered from the immunization centres and other centres on October 24 and 25. This year, there is a program to administer vitamin A and anti-parasitic drugs from more than 52,000 regular vaccination centres, said Kedar Parajuli, head of the nutrition department. There are 16,000 vaccination centres.
In Nepal, vitamin A and parasite medicine are given to the targeted children twice a year. Parajuli, chief of the nutrition branch, said that the government has participated in the health program as not all parents are of the opinion that the worm medicine should be given in six months in Nepal. According to the branch, the target is to provide vitamin A to 2.7 million children and parasite medicine to 2.4 million children in Nepal this time.
The Ministry of Health and Population has also suggested avoiding the risk of possible corona infection while taking vitamin A and anti-parasitic drugs.
