Dec 7, Kathmandu- After a long wait, ICU service with ventilator will be operated in Udaipur District Hospital for the first time. According to the hospital, the Department of Health Services and the Department of Obstetrics have sent two other obstetricians, including anesthesia doctors, to start ICU services for critically ill patients.

Chief of the district hospital, Dr. Jivanarayan Mandal, said that the service will be operational from this week as anesthesiologist Dr. Kaushal Tamang has been assigned to the district hospital by the health department. The Department of Health Services had managed a budget of Rs. 10 million three years ago to operate ICU services including ventilator services. Although two ventilator machines were purchased and brought, the machine had been stuck in the hospital room for two years due to a lack of anesthesia doctors.

Khadga Pariyar, chairman of the hospital management committee and chairman of the district coordination committee, said that the ICU service would be started in the first hospital established in 2039 BS after the department sent doctors to the concerned bodies after repeatedly requesting anesthesia doctors.

According to the District Hospital, Udayapur, two ventilator machines worth tens of millions of rupees have been kept in the room for the past two years. Udayapur, which has a population of 350,000, still lacks ICU services with ventilators and has been forced to travel to Dharan, Biratnagar, Janakpur, and Kathmandu for treatment. District residents are happy to get the service in the district.
