May 29, Kathmandu: The government has decided to give a 90 percent discount on the customs duty on sanitary pad imports.

This was stated by Finance Minister Janardan Sharma while unveiling the budget for the fiscal year 2079/80 in Parliament. He said that a significant discount has been made on the import duty on raw materials required for the sanitary pad manufacturing industry in Nepal.

Sharma also said that the sanitary pads to be distributed as per the program approved by the government or public bodies should be purchased from indigenous products.
