Let's Discourage Nepali From Marrying Foreigners: MP Prem Suwal

Jul 22, Kathmandu: Nepal Labour Farmers Party members of Parliamentary (MP09 Prem Suwal has said that Nepali should be discouraged from marrying foreigners.

Speaking at the House of Representatives meeting on Friday, MP Suwal said that after 20 years, women or men who are married to a Nepali should take a written examination and be interviewed about the language and culture of Nepal, and if they pass the test, they will be given artificial citizenship of Nepal.

He said that passing the Citizenship Bill through the fast track is not in the interest of the country. MP Suwal insisted that it is not in the interest of the country to try to pass the Citizenship Bill through the fast track. He mentioned that the Citizenship Bill should be sent to the relevant committee. He said that since the subject of citizenship is a subject related to sovereignty, it is necessary to make an agenda to discuss it with the public.

He said that the open border should be closed to solve the citizenship problem of Nepal. He said that only the children of Nepalese citizens of both mother and father should be given Nepali citizenship.

 He said that the citizenship given on the basis of birth should be canceled after investigation as foreigners have also got it. MP Suwal mentioned that it is necessary to arrange that Nepali citizens of descendants are necessary for elections, government services, political appointments, industry, and business.
