UML Protests Against High Prices And Corruption(With Video)

Mahesh Basnet is a Nepalese Communist politician who was born on 16 January 1975 A.D at Gundu-4, Bhaktapur District to father Purna Bahadur Basnet and mother Ishwari Basnet. His autobiographical book Ma Mahesh was published in 2016 and was co-authored by Shikar Ghimire.

 He is a member of the House of Representatives(HoR) elected from the Bhaktapur district in the election of the federal parliament held in 2017. He is known as a role model in rural development. He is a young and energetic leader.

He served as Minister of Industry under prime minister Sushil Koirala. He served as Chief of Youth Force Nepal on 2008 and is serving as Chairman of Youth Association Nepal since 2009. He contested in the 2013 Nepalese Constituent Assembly election from Bhaktapur District constituency number 2.

While serving as Minister of Industry, Basnet waived off the loans provided to industrialists affected by the earthquake. Speaking on the Headline Nepal Bishesh program with Presenter Sanjeb Regmi, he said Even in the midst of rain and clouds, the main opposition CPN (UML) has taken out a massive public demonstration rally against high prices and corruption.

A year after the formation of the coalition government, UML protested against the issue of an increase in the price of food and the increase in the cost of living in every sector. Various fraternal organizations of the main opposition party CPN-UML have demonstrated against high prices, corruption, and irregularities.

Hundreds of UML workers protested against the government in Basantpur, Kathmandu. Even though it was raining, the protesters raised slogans against the government.The protestors demand that the government should stop the increase in prices of fuel and food, corruption, and other irregularities.

Protests have been taken out from various places in the capital to protest against the rise in inflation, corruption, and other activities in the country.They raised slogans such as "Permadeshi government is dead", "permadeshi government is not needed", "corruption cannot be done", "control corruption", and "punish the corrupt".
