Sandeep Lamichhane Case Update: Fake Photo Of A Victim Made Viral In Social Media, Complaint Lodged In Cyber Bureau

Sept 13, Kathmandu- An unrelated picture has been made viral on social media by claiming to be a teenager who accused former national cricket team captain Sandeep Lamichhane of rape.

The girl who went viral saying that her photo was being misused has lodged a complaint with the Cyber Bureau. According to bureau sources, the girl has submitted an application a few days ago. According to the police, the application was submitted along with the screenshots of the photos being used on social media and the abusive language used in them.

The girl complained that she was being defamed for no reason as she had not made any accusation against Sandeep. She demands that those involved in this be brought under the scope of legal action. Last Tuesday, a 17-year-old girl filed a complaint against Sandeep at the Metropolitan Police Circle Gaushala, alleging rape.

Two or three days later, some Facebook groups published a photo saying that the informant was a girl. According to the laws of Nepal, the identity and photo of the Complainant of the incident cannot be made public in such an incident. On top of that, a police officer said that the photo published in this way is not of the concerned person.

Looking at the background of the public photo, it looks like it was taken abroad. According to police sources, the complainant girl has never gone abroad.
