UML Secretariat Meeting: Oli Is In Charge Of Choosing Candidates For The General Election

Sept 30, Kathmandu- The secretariat meeting of CPN-UML has given the right to choose the candidates for the upcoming elections to President KP Sharma Oli.

In the meeting that lasted till late on Thursday night at Oli's residence, Balkot decided to select the candidate after necessary consultation with the relevant committees and leaders. In the meeting, there was a personal discussion about the leaders who came as recommendations. The meeting, which lasted for more than 6 hours, did not make a concrete decision about the candidate. An official who participated in the meeting informed that the candidate will be decided after further discussion.

Since coordination with other parties is yet to be finalized, the leaders have agreed to take a decision on the candidate only after further discussion. A single recommendation has been made for the candidates of the 56 House of Representatives constituencies from the districts and provinces of UML.

In the remaining constituencies, more than one aspirant's name has been recommended. But as direct nominations will be registered after Dashain, it is not certain whether the next meeting will be held. In the meeting, only 110 constituencies of the House of Representatives and 220 constituencies of the State Assembly were discussed.
