How Many Won Gold Medals In Taekwondo?

Oct 17, Kathmandu: Nepal Police Club won 6 gold medals in Taekwondo at the 9th National Sports Competition held in Beni at the headquarters of Myagdi.

In the competition organized by the National Sports Council, the Nepali Army won three gold medals and Madhesh Province won one gold medal out of ten events till Sunday. Taekwondo coach of the National Sports Council Hira Thapa informed that the police won two medals, the Nepalese army three, the armed police two, Lumbini two, and Madhesh province one.

Gandaki and Province-1 won 6-5, Sena, Armed Forces, and Bagmati Province won 2 each, and Lumbini and Nepal Police Club won 1 bronze medal each. Bir Bahadur Mohar of Nepal Police won the gold medal in the men's 74 kg category and Sumit Bisht in the women's 54 kg category in the match held at Kalipul Covered Hall in Beni on Sunday evening under the Girogi category.

In the women's 57 kg category, Sandhya Kumari Singh of Nepali Army won gold, Srijana Bista of Lumbini won silver, Sabita Thapa of Gandaki, and Samiksha Limbu of Pradesh-1 won bronze. In the men's 74 kg category, Umeshraja Bhandari of Armed Forces won silver, Dan Bahadur Tamang of Bagmati and Shankar Paudel of Gandaki won bronze medals.

Abtab Alam of Madhesh won silver, Shiv Khadka of Province-1 and Ambika Prasad Ghimire of Sena won bronze medals in the men's 54 kg category. The 22-event tournament organized by the National Sports Council will be held till October 19 District Sports Development Committee taekwondo coach ( Myagdi) Karn Pradhan, said that 330 players from seven provinces, three departments, and the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) participated. There will be competition for 22 gold and bronze medals and 44 silver medals.
