How To Co-Watch YouTube Videos With Google Meet?

Oct 18, Kathmandu: A live-sharing feature has been added to Google's video conferencing platform Google Meet. This feature has made it possible for users to interact and share content with all participants connected to Google Meet video conferencing.

With this, users can stream YouTube videos and show them to everyone during video conferencing. Google launched this feature last year on another platform, Duo. Currently, with the merger of Duo and Google Meet, this feature has been launched in Google Meet.

How to show YouTube videos in Google Meet?

For this, you must have an Android device and you need your personal Google account to open YouTube and Google Meet. YouTube Live sharing on Google Meet requires a YouTube premium subscription. But shared videos can be seen by ordinary users.

For streaming YouTube videos to Google Meet

1. Once connected to Google Meet, tap the screen to show call controlled
2. Click on the three-dotted menu at the back of the screen and select the Activities option
3. Click the YouTube button in the Activities menu
4. Select the video you want to share live on YouTube
5.YouTube videos with children's content and paid advertisements cannot be shared live on Google Meet.
6. Then tap on the video to share live
7. Press the Start button in the pop-up menu with the message to start live sharing.

As soon as the live sharing starts, a green bar appears at the bottom of the screen that says You are live sharing in Meet. Along with this, all other participants in Google Meet can see the video you are sharing.

Also, any participant can pause, rewind and forward the video running in the meeting. Pop-ups of messages and notifications may not appear while YouTube videos are being shared. So you have to keep watching the Google Meet app to see notifications and messages.
