Pakistan Army Appointing New Commander Soon

Nov 24, Kathmandu- Pakistan Army will soon get a new commander.

The Prime Minister's Office has confirmed that it has received a list of names of six senior generals for the new army chief. The current army chief, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, is resigning on November 29 after completing his 6-year tenure. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's office tweeted on Wednesday that it has received the names for the army chief and posts.

"According to the prescribed procedure, the Prime Minister will take a decision on the appointment", said a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office. Bajwa took the leadership of the 6 lakh army in November 2016 for a three-year term. He was extended the term by the then Prime Minister Imran Khan in August 2019.
