Dec 31, Kathmandu- As always, preparations are being made to celebrate Nepali Topi Day with excitement this year too. The slogan of this year's 10th (Nepali Hat Day) 'Nepali Topi Diwas' is 'Nepali Topi: Nepali Identity'.

After the Daura Suruwal, Topi, and Gunyu Cholo, which have been a part of Nepali identity for centuries, were removed from the list of national costumes by the then government, we have been celebrating Nepali Topi Day with the demand that Nepali topi (Dhaka topi, Bhadgaole topi) should be declared as national identity. Jagruk Yuva Abhiyan Nepal has requested the government to declare the Dhaka hat or Bhadgaon hat as national identity. "As Nepal is a multi-racial and multicultural country, there are many ethnic hats here. Therefore, we request the government to pay attention to the protection and promotion of those hats", said the statement
