Plane Crashes 76- Year History In Nepal: 922 People Lost Their Lives(With Video)

Jan 20, Kathmandu: More than 52 airplanes and helicopters have crashed in Nepal in the last 76 years. According to the statistics of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, more than 922 people have died in airplane and helicopter accidents in Nepal.

The first plane crash occurred in Nepal on May 7, 1946. There was no loss of life when the plane of Royal Force Air crashed. The first human loss occurred in 1955 when a plane crashed in Nepal. Two people were killed when the Kalinga Air plane crashed.

Similarly, when an Indian Airlines plane crashed in Kathmandu where 14 people lost their lives in 1956 . An Indian Airlines plane crashed in Nepal in 1957 as well. 20 people were killed when an Indian Airlines plane crashed in Tikarbhairav. Less than a year later, another plane from Indian Airlines crashed in Nepal where  killing 20 people in 1958 AD.

The plane of Nepal Airlines had an accident in 1960 AD. Four passengers died in an accident at Bhairahawa. Another Nepal Airlines plane crashed in Dhorpatan in 1962, killing 10 people. In the same year, another plane from Nepal Airlines crashed in Dhorpatan where killing 6 people.

Another plane from Nepal Airlines had an accident in 1969. 35 people died when the plane crashed. A year after that a Nepal Airlines plane crashed in Delhi where killing one person in 1970 AD.

A Royal Light aircraft crashed in Jomsom in 1970 AD.  One person died in the accident. Two years later, Royal Light had an accident in Dhulikhel. 31 people lost their lives in the accident.

Five people died when a Nepal Airlines plane crashed in Kathmandu in 1975 AD and six people lost their lives in an accident in Meghauli in 1976 AD. six people died in a plane crash at Langtang In 1979.

A Nepal Airlines plane had an accident in Biratnagar in 1981. 10 people died in that accident. 15 people lost their lives when a Nepal Airlines plane crashed in Bhojpur in 1984. In 1985, there was another plane crash in Nepal, in which 25 people lost their lives.

A Thai Air plane crashed in Nepal in 1992. 113 people died in the accident in Rasuwa. A Pakistan Airlines plane crashed in Lalitpur's Bhattedanda in 1992 AD. 167 people died in that accident. 18 people lost their lives when an Everest Air plane crashed in 1992. A Nepal Airlines plane crashed in 1995, killing two people.

Karnali Air plane had an accident in 1997. One person died in the accident. Libani plane crashed in Nepal in 1998. 18 people died in that accident. An Asian Air plane crashed in 1998. Three people lost their lives in the accident in Solukhumbu. In the same year, one person died when a Nepal Airlines plane crashed in Solu.

A Necon Air plane crashed in Jumla in 1999. Five people lost their lives in the accident. In the same year, 10 people died when a Skyline plane crashed in Makwanpur. A Nepal Airlines plane crashed in Dadeldhura in 2000. 25 people lost their lives in that accident. In 2001, when a Fistel Air helicopter crashed into Rara Lake, four people died.

Similarly, a Skyline plane crashed in Surkhet in 2002. Four people died in the accident. A Shangri-La Air plane crashed in 2002. 18 people died in the accident in Kaski.

Yeti Airlines' plane crashed in Lamjung in 2004. 3 people lost their lives in that incident. An Air Dynasty plane had an accident in 2005. Three people died in the accident.

Yeti Airlines plane crashed in 2006. 9 people lost their lives in the accident in Jumla. In the same year, another plane of Yeti airline crashed in Lukla. 19 people died in that accident.

An Agni Air plane crashed in 2010. 14 people died in the accident in Makwanpur.

A Tara Air plane crashed in Okhaldhunga in 2011. 22 people lost their lives in the accident. In the same year, a Buddha Air plane crashed in Lalitpur. 19 people died in the accident.

An Agni Air plane crashed in Jomsom in 2012. 15 people died in the accident. In the same year, 19 people lost their lives when a Sita Air plane crashed in Kathmandu.

A Nepal Airlines plane had an accident in Arghakhanchi in 2014. 18 people died in the accident. In 2015, a US Army helicopter crashed. The helicopter had an accident while engaged in relief and rescue operations after the earthquake. Thirteen people died in that accident.

In 2015, there was another helicopter crash in Nepal. Four people lost their lives in the accident. 23 people died when a Tara Air plane crashed in 2016.

A US-Bangla Airlines plane crashed at Tribhuvan International Airport in 2018, killing 51 people. In the same year, a helicopter of Altitude Air had an accident in Nuwakot. Six people died in the helicopter crash. In 2018, a plane from Makalu Air crashed in Simikot. Two people lost their lives in the accident.

An Air Dynasty helicopter had an accident in Sisnevir, Taplejung in 2019. 7 people died in the accident. In the same year, three people were killed when a Summit Air plane crashed at Lukla airport.

The plane crash of Yeti Airlines in Pokhara on Sunday has been found to be the biggest so far in Nepal's domestic flight. Nepal Civil Aviation Authority spokesperson of Jagannath Niraula informed that the plane crash with 72 passengers was the biggest in a domestic flight.

Tara Air's Twin-Otter 'Nine NIT' aircraft, which was going from Pokhara to Jomsom, crashed at Thsang-2 of Mustang On May 30, 2022 AD. There were 22 passengers including three crew members in the plane.
