Real Madrid Join Barcelona In Copa Del Rey Semi-Finals

Jan 27, Kathmandu: By defeating Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid entered the semi-finals of the Spanish Copa del Rey football tournament. Real Madrid defeated Atletico Madrid 3-1 in extra time in the match on Thursday night.

Alvaro Morata of Atlético and Rodrigo of Real Madrid scored one goal each in the scheduled time and the game went to extra time. Karim Benzema and Vinicier Junior added one goal each for Real in extra time. In the 19th minute of the game, Morata gave Atletico an early lead.

However, in the 79th minute, Real's Rodrigo scored and tied the game at 1-1. The game then went into extra time. In the 99th minute of the game, Stefan Savic received a red card and Atlético was reduced to 10 players.

In the 104th minute, captain Benzema scored to give Real a 2-1 lead. After that, Junior scored in extra time injury time to give Real a 3-1 win. Athletic Bilbao has also entered the semi-finals after defeating Valencia 3-1 in the next quarter-final match of the Spanish Copa del Rey. Earlier, Barcelona and Osasuna reached the semi-finals of the competition. The schedule of the semi-finals will be announced next Monday.
