KU MPhil Student Presentation At Policy Research Institute

Jan 27, Kathmandu: Kathmandu University School of Education, MPhil in Development Studies second-semester students organized a symposium on Public Policy Process and Challenges in Nepal at Policy Research Institute (PRI), Narayanhiti. In order to meet the requirements of development policy and planning, the students in 6 groups studied various topics of public interest related to public policy-making and reviewed and presented their papers.


As part of the group work, a group consisting of Ramdas Chaudhary, Radhakrishna Humagain, Richan Shrestha, and Karen Maharjan prepared and presented the initial draft of Krishnapur municipality's education policy.

 While Jeevan Tamang, Sanchita Maharjan, Purna Kumari Lingden, Angnima Lama, and Pratibha Rai, a group of Mahalakshmi Municipality's gender equality and Prepared and presented the initial draft of social inclusion policy. Similarly, a group consisting of Sanjiv Kumar Panthi, Sunila Bania, and Bikas Ghaju summarized the policy related to the declining employment rate in technical education and vocational training.


The group of Maheshwar RiJal, Dinesh Koirala, and Karen Maharjan summarized the policy related to disaster risk reduction based on road accidents. Besides, the presentation of the foreign investment policy summary was done by the group of Asmita KC, Kavita Gurung, and Binita Subedi. A group including Trijan Singh, Drishti Upreti, Biswas Praja, and Gautam Vilas Joshi presented the policy suggestions for the regulation of savings and credit cooperatives to be prepared by the Kathmandu Metropolitan City.

On this occasion, subject teacher Dr. Rajkumar Dhungana, head of the research department and supervisor of the foreign investment policy group Dr. Hari Sharma Neupane, Supervisor of the Technical and Professional Policy Group. Giri Raj Sharma and Risk Reduction Policy Group Supervisor Dr. Along with Kalpana Khanal, the staff of the institution, and 22 MPhil students participated. The supervisors and other participants provided feedback and feedback on the students' presentations.


In the second phase of the program, co-researcher Dr. Jham Kumar Vishwakarma gave an informative presentation to the students on the process and structure of policymaking, while Dr. Neupane also shed light on the structure and activities of the Policy Research Institute.

Finally, Dr. Dhungana mentioned that continuous activities are being conducted under the memorandum of understanding between Kathmandu University and Policy Research Institute and concluded the interaction program with a thank you note expecting continued cooperation in the coming days.
