Supporters Of Rabi Lamichhane Been Detained By The Police

Jan 27, Kathmandu- The Supreme Court has ruled that Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane is ineligible to be an MP. On Friday, the Constitutional Court dismissed his post.

When the decision on Lamichhane's citizenship case was about to come, his supporters reached the Supreme Court. Dissatisfied with the Supreme Court's decision, his supporters raised slogans in front of the court. The police have taken them into custody.

Lamichhane, who is also the chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, has also lost his position as a minister.

Advocates Raviraj Basaula and Yuvraj Safal filed a petition in the Supreme Court questioning Rabi's eligibility to be a member of Parliament. A writ was filed against Lamichhane, who was involved in a controversy for not renewing his Nepali citizenship after renouncing his American citizenship, demanding to stop his swearing-in and cancel his position as a member of parliament.
