Chief Minister's Statue Burnt Demanding Cancellation Of Koshi Province Name

Mar, 19, Kathmandu- The demonstration in Biratnagar today with the demand to cancel the name of Koshi province has become tense. During the demonstration, the police fired tear gas at some cells.

Demonstrators have demonstrated by violating the prohibited area. The angry protestors burnt the effigy of Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki in front of the Chief Minister's office. The police used force after the protestors reached the road from Mahendra chowk to the office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers under the initiative of the Renaming Joint Struggle Committee.

Tear gas was fired after the prohibition order was violated. The participants in the demonstration claimed that the police fired a few rounds of aerial fire. Maoist leader Gopal Kirati, Limbuwan leaders and identity advocates Kumar Lingden, Sanju Hang Palungwa, Prem Ekten, Gyan Bahadur Rai, Dakendra Singh Thegim, Gelje Lama Sherpa, Angdawa Sherpa, Dilram Rai, Mishek Hang Thamsuhang and other leaders were scheduled to address the demonstration.
