Apr 01, Kathmandu- A stampede at a food distribution center in Karachi, Pakistan has left at least 12 people dead. An international news agency reported that nine women and three children were killed.
There was a stampede after rumors spread that a fire had broken out at the center while free food was being distributed on the occasion of Ramadan. As the large crowd ran into a stampede, several other people were injured and are being treated, an international news agency reported, citing Pakistani officials.
With the increasing economic crisis in Pakistan, the price of daily consumables including food has increased. After the increase in the price of consumer goods, the free food distribution program in various places has started to get crowded. Earlier last week, four elderly people were killed in a stampede in the crowd.
