Earlier, the checkpoint was brought into operation to bring goods from China to Nepal only one way. Government representatives and political leaders have been taking initiatives to open the border in two ways. It was understood by many that there was a kind of undeclared blockade at this point.
Deepak Thokra, a Rasuwa-based journalist, said that with the complete opening of the border crossing, it will be easier for Nepalese to move around. Thokra informed that some Nepalese goods have been exported to China today as well. "Today, with the opening of the border, Nepali traders have also exported some goods to China", he said.
This checkpoint was completely closed until 5 June 2020 due to the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic. From 4 June 2020, the checkpoint was brought into operation to bring one-way goods from China to Nepal.
In the meantime, the border was closed several times. During the regular operation of the checkpoint, more than 100 containers of goods enter Nepal through this checkpoint every day.
