UML Selected Candidates For Tanahun-1 And Chitwan-2, 'Solve the problem of meter interest victims'

Apr 01, Kathmandu- CPN (UML) has selected candidates for the by-elections of Chitwan 2 and Tanhun 1 to be held on the 23rd of April. The candidates were selected by the central secretariat meeting held at the party's central office at Chyasal, Lalitpur on Saturday.

According to the decision, it has been decided to make Ram Prasad Neupane a candidate in the by-election of Chitwan 2 and Sarbendra Khanal in the by-election of Tanahun 1.

Prithvi Subba Gurung, deputy general secretary and head of the propaganda department of the party, said that it was decided to make both of them candidates for the by-elections on the recommendation of the party's respective electoral regional committee and district committee. However, UML has said that it will decide on the candidate for the by-election of Bara area number 2 by tomorrow (Sunday).

Gurung said that due to the fluid political situation there, the meeting also decided to decide the candidate in that area after further discussion until tomorrow. For that, the meeting has given the responsibility of taking the necessary decision to the chairman KP Oli.

Similarly, UML has also drawn the government's serious attention to take concrete, meaningful and quick initiatives to solve the problems of meter interest victims. Gurung, the head of the party's propaganda department, said that the meeting also demanded the government to make a legal provision to make meter interest collection a crime and to take immediate strict legal action against those involved in such crimes.

UML has also decided to draw the serious attention of all parties related to our party to ensure that the financial institutions are sensitive to the needs, problems, and interests of the citizens, as the main reason for the situation where the citizens fall into the trap of metered interest is the lack of financial access to the common citizens and the fact that the financial institutions are not sensitive and accountable to the citizens.
