Apr 3, Kathmandu: Independent Student Union(ISU) elections are being held on March 24 at Amrit Science Campus (ASKAL) in Lainchour of the capital. Elections in Amrit were postponed twice on March 18 and 31. This time, all the student organizations are moving forward on the basis of consensus. The election committee has also advanced the election process.
5 candidates have been nominated for the president of ISU. Kamal Joshi has become a candidate from Aneraswaviyu along with the panel. Similarly, Om Shri Rizal (beard) from the Nepal Student union, Prem Jaisi (Mama Prem) from Akhil Krantikari, Manish Gora from Nepal Krantikari Vidyarthi Sangh, and Lakshman Singh Dhami (LS) from Independent are candidates.
Jaishi, who became a candidate from the revolutionaries, has the support of the student organization of the RPP and the student organization of the CPN Unified Socialists. The candidates have intensified their campaigning. They have been doing things like publicizing their agenda among the students and listening to their problems.
Elections could not be held earlier due to the lockout of all revolutionaries. The lockdown was opened after an agreement was reached between the campus administration and the revolutionaries. After the lockdown was opened, the election environment was created.
Kamal Joshi, the candidate for the post of president of All Nepal National Free Students' Union(ANNFSU), has put forward various agendas. Stating that the names ANNFSU and Askal are synonymous with each other, he expressed his commitment to fulfilling the dream seen by Amrit Pradhan while appreciating the blood and sweat shed by Agraj.
Rizal, who is a candidate for the president of Swaviyu from the Union, said that he has been playing a leading role in every educational movement by raising his voice against all kinds of irregularities and distortions existing in the Amrit campus. The United Nations has put forward 12 commitments. They range from arranging Akshaya Kosh to arrange scholarships for students to arranging funds so that professors can give research grants to their research students.
Similarly, Prem Jaisi (Mama Prem), who became a candidate for Swaviyu president from Akhil Revolutionary, claimed that he would win because he has been carrying the issue of students since yesterday.
He said that he understood the problems of the students by being among the students and that he is in the election field to solve those problems. He says that the main agenda is to solve the problem by making the educational issues of the students their voice.
Similarly, Manish Gora, who became a candidate from the Nepal Revolutionary Students' Union (Nekravisangh), said that he should win scientific education linked to production labor. He said that they should vote for the Nekra Union against the ruling parties who have surrendered to American imperialism and Indian expansionism.
Laxman Dhami, who grew up independently, has been active in various social activities. Dhami, who has been fighting against corruption and immorality on campus, said that he was forced to stand up after the organizations did not work. He said that student organizations always protest on campus by making their reputation an issue and its direct impact is on the student's studies.
"Organizations have been acting as a matter of reputation and making demands such as lockouts, protests, and not allowing the campus to function. My candidacy is also against this," he said. He says that most of the students are looking for alternatives to student organizations. He is committed to solving the existing problems in Amrit Campus and making the campus excellent.
All the candidates have been claiming that their victory is assured. They say that their agenda is against the deformity and disharmony on the campus.
