UML proposal for power sharing to Congress in Koshi province

Sep 17, Kathmandu- In order to form a stable government in Koshi province, CPN-UML has proposed power sharing to the Nepali Congress.

The issue of forming a new government in Koshi province is currently becoming complicated. In the 93-member provincial assembly, the support of 47 MPs is required for a majority. Earlier, efforts were made to form a government with the support of 47 people, but that government could not get a vote of confidence.

If only one member of parliament is less, the government that was formed by a small margin of majority is not ready to last, now the UML has proposed the formation of a two-thirds government in collaboration with the two big parties. UML has 40 MPs in the state assembly. Congress has 29 MPs. If these two major parties form a government together, that government will be a government formed with the support of more than two-thirds of the votes.

In the 93-member provincial assembly, if 63 MPs support it, it will reach a two-thirds majority. When UML and Congress combine, they have 69 MPs in their favor. Currently, there is an alliance of UML and RPP in the province, while on the other hand there is an alliance of Congress, Maoists, United Socialists and Jaspa.

Earlier, the Congress-Maoist alliance formed the government after resigning Speaker Baburam Gautam and gathering the support of 47 MPs, but that government could not get a vote of confidence.
