Employees Protest Against The Federal Civil Service Bill

Oct 02, Kathmandu- The local level employees have gone on strike demanding to amend some of the provisions of the Federal Civil Service Bill registered by the government in the Federal Parliament.

On Monday, they staged a dharna at Maitighar Mandala in Kathmandu with black bands tied on their hands with various demands, saying that they were neglected in the Civil Bill. Employees from different municipalities of the country have gathered in Kathmandu in the protest called by the Central Struggle Committee of Local Level Employees.

They have demanded that a Unified Civil Service Act should be issued instead of the Federal Civil Service Act, that the position of the chief administrative officer should be from the local service, that they should be included in the definition of civil service, that the same attitude should be developed for all three levels of employees, that temporary and contractual employees should be properly managed, and that trade union rights should be given.
