Two Scientists Awarded With The Nobel Prize For Who Researched Technology Used In Making Covid Vaccine

Oct 02, Kathmandu- This year's Nobel Prize for medical science has been awarded to two scientists who researched the technology used in the vaccine against COVID-19.

The Nobel Prize Committee announced Monday that scientists Katalin Kariko and Drew Weissman will be awarded the prize in medical sciences for their discovery of a mRNA vaccine.

Kariko, who was born in Hungary in 1955, is currently affiliated with Jeddah University in Hungary and the University of Pennsylvania in the United States.

Weissman, who was born in America in 1959, is also currently affiliated with the University of Pennsylvania.

At the end of 2019, the COVID-19 pandemic started all over the world. For which there is no vaccine or treatment, Covid-19 has killed around 7 million people worldwide.

After some time scientists have developed different types of vaccines against covid. Among them, messenger RNA technology was used in vaccines such as Pfizer and Moderna.
