8th Ayurveda Day Celebrated At Indian Embassy

Nov 03, Kathmandu- Indian Embassy in Kathmandu has taken eighth Ayurveda Day as a part of the celebration.

A discussion program was organized on the possibility of further cooperation between India and Nepal in the field of traditional medicine, especially Ayurveda.

Representatives of Nepal Government, Nepal Ayurveda Doctors Association, Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Nepal Ayush Industry participated in the program.

Addressing the program, Mr. Prasanna Srivastava, Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy, discussed the cooperation between India and Nepal in the field of traditional medicine including Ayurveda.

He informed about various initiatives taken to promote cooperation in Ayurveda through exchange of knowledge, expertise and capacity building.

He said that the celebrations to be celebrated on this year's Ayurveda Day will be in line with the slogan of the G-20 conference held under the chairmanship of India, 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam'.

Dr. Basudev Upadhyay, Director General of the Department of Ayurveda and Alternative Medicine of the Ministry of Health and Population, Government of Nepal, highlighted the initiatives taken by the Government of Nepal for the promotion of Ayurveda, mentioning that Ayurveda is a recognized system of health services in Nepal.

Harkirat Singh Vedi, business head of Dabur Nepal, expressing the opinion of the industry, said how Dabur has developed a supply chain to collect herbs from Nepal and that has provided opportunities for local communities to cultivate sustainable herbs.

Dr. Shyambabu Yadav, president of the Nepal Ayurveda Physicians Association, said that Ayurveda is an important part of medicine in Nepal.

He gave information about its rich history in Nepal. Government of India, Ministry of AYUSH has been celebrating Ayurveda Day every year on Dhanwantari Jayanti since 2016.

The theme of the 8th Ayurveda Day, celebrated on November 10, 2023, is 'Ayurveda for one health - Ayurveda for everyone, every day'.

The Indian Embassy is committed to strengthening the relationship between India and Nepal through the promotion of Ayurveda, focusing on the spirit of One Earth for a Healthy Future.
