804 iPhones That Are Not Registered In MDMS Even Till The Deadline Have Been Blocked

Nov 06, Kathmandu- Finally, Mobile Device Management System (MDMS) has come into implementation in Nepal. The regulatory Nepal Telecommunication Authority has implemented MDMS by locking unregistered iPhone 15 series phones.

According to the authority, the telecommunication service of 804 iPhone 15 series phones that are not registered in MDMS has been stopped since 9 pm on Monday.

About 1000 devices under the iPhone 15 series were sent an SMS 15 days before they were registered in MDMS. According to the authority, 804 devices were closed because they were not registered within the stipulated time.

These phones will not have SIM support of telecommunication services ie Nepal Telecom or Ncell. However, users can use the Wi-Fi service.

The authority has informed that in the next phase, this system will be applied to other high-end and expensive phones that are not registered in MDMS.

Under this, the authority will request through SMS to register the phones that have been used without registering in MDMS with a deadline of 15 days. Devices that are not registered during that period will be blocked according to the rules.

For registration, a revenue of Rs 10,000 per phone set has been fixed for the price of more than Rs 1 lakh. Similarly, for other smartphones, 3000 per phone set and 200 revenue per set for ordinary mobile phones other than smart mobile phones can be registered in the MDMS system.

As there is no other procedure to register in MDMS for blocked phones, the authority said that these devices will not work in Nepal.
