Jan 16, Kathmandu- The election code of conduct has been implemented from today for the election of members of the National Assembly to be held on Magh 11.
According to the Election Commission, the code of conduct will be applied to all concerned persons, bodies and officials from today till Magh 12. According to the spokesperson of the commission, Shaligram Sharma Paudyal, no public resources and property shall be used or caused to be used in favor or against any party or candidate during that period.
Similarly, he said, the materials or information related to the election should not be spoiled or reduced in any way, any government or semi-government agency or public institution or university or school or college should not be used to hold or hold election-related gatherings or propaganda.
Similarly, there is a legal provision that does not allow the production and use, sale, distribution or display of any material marked with the election symbol of a political party or candidate. Also, throughout the code of conduct period, senior citizens, women, sexual and gender minority communities and the commission said that it is not allowed to promote or cause election campaigns in such a way as to hurt the feelings of people with disabilities or cause character assassination, and it is not allowed to use or cause children in election campaigns.
According to the code of conduct, it is prohibited to conduct any kind of procession, general meeting, corner meeting, meeting, assembly, publicizing election campaign, spreading or causing false, misleading or malicious information on social media, to influence the election, in a way that is prohibited at the time and place prohibited by the prevailing law, misinformation, there is a rule that it is not allowed to make misleading comments or comments such as spreading misleading information, insulting, making hate speech.
