15 Killed In Fire At Apartment Block In China's Nanjing

Feb 24, Kathmandu- Fifteen people have died in an apartment fire in eastern China. More than 40 people are said to have been injured in the incident.

The fire broke out in the city of Nanjing.

Officials said that the fire started from the first floor of the building where the electric bike was kept. However, the cause of the fire has not been clarified.

Nanjing is a city of more than 8 million people. It is about 260 km from Shanghai.

25 vehicles and 130 firefighters were dispatched to the blaze at 4:40 a.m. on Friday. The fire was brought under control at 6 o'clock.

It is said that one of the 44 injured is in a critical condition.

Nanjing Mayor Chen Zhichang expressed his condolences to the victims and also apologized to them.
