Mark Zuckerberg Set To Open Meta's First Data Center In India

Apr 02, Kathmandu- Meta is going to open its first data center in India. According to the Indian media Economic Times, Meta is going to set up a data center at the Reliance Industries campus in Chennai, India.

Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg came to attend the wedding of Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani's son Anant Ambani in the first week of March. During that time, it was expected that there would be a commercial partnership between Zuckerberg and Reliance Industries.

According to the Economic Times, Meta and Reliance Industries recently discussed the establishment of a data center.

After the data center is operational in India, Meta will process the data of Indian users in India instead of the data center in Singapore. It is expected that this will make it cheaper for users to use social networks, improve user experience, speed up data processing and also make an incomparable contribution in the field of advertising.

Established in a joint venture of Reliance Industries, Brookfield Asset Management and Digital Reality, the campus will be able to handle 100 MW IT load.

At a time when the Indian government is promoting AI technology, Meta is going to expand its investment for its development. It is believed that the data center to be established by Meta will support programs and software that use AI, as well as Meta's own Large Language Model. However, Meta has not given any information on this matter.
