Coordination Meeting Of Nepal And India Security Officials

Apr 02, Kathmandu- The coordination meeting of the security officers of the border districts of Nepal and India has been completed.

Chief District Officer of Banke, Shrawan Kumar Pokharel, informed that a coordination meeting was held to formulate various security strategies and plans at the border crossing targeting the Lok Sabha elections to be held in India.

He said that Banke Police Chief SP Subaschandra Bohora, Armed Police Superintendent Bimal Dangi and Dang Police Chief SP Ram Bahadur GC along with himself participated in the meeting. He said that the security officers along with the chief district officers of Bardia, Dang, Kailali and Kanchanpur participated in the meeting through virtual means.

DIG Amarendra Pratapsingh of Devipatan Mandal Gonda, DIG JD Vashisht of SSB, DM Monika Rani of Bahraich, SP Brinda Shukla along with DMs and SPs of Lakhimpur, Balrampur and Shravasti districts participated in the meeting from the Indian side.

In the meeting, Banke's Prajia Pokharel said that it was decided to manage the security challenges that may arise from the border areas of both countries through joint security strategies and actions to complete the Lok Sabha elections to be held in India in a phased manner from this month in a clean and fear-free environment.

In the meeting, the security officials of both Nepal and India gave detailed information about the security situation of the checkpoints in their respective districts and also presented suggestions about the work to be done through coordination and cooperation in the future.

Considering that due to the open border, there are various types of criminal activities and smuggling of goods on both sides and other illegal activities are also taking place, it was agreed in the meeting to coordinate and cooperate at the border and increase the security.
