Butwal Demonstration Continues As The Process Of Appointing Rector And Registrar Of TU Remain Yet To Be Proceeded

Apr 08, Kathmandu- The student organization led by Netra Bikram Chand (Biplav) has demonstrated in Butwal.

The student organization demonstrated against the party interference in the appointment of the rector and registrar of Tribhuvan University. Under the leadership of All Nepal Students Union Samajwadi, demonstrations were held from Butwal Multipurpose Campus to Goal Park. The participants displayed placards with slogans such as 'Stop political interference in registrar appointment', 'Appointment through open competition', 'Implement socialist education policy', 'Take action against the loss of answer sheets', 'Publish exam results on time'.

Speaking at the corner meeting held after the demonstration, Bigyan C, a central member of All Nepal Students Union Samajwadi, said that it was objectionable for the Prime Minister to block the person recommended by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Keshar Jung Baral for the appointment of the Rector and Registrar, and appoint them based on party affiliation. He said that his organization would stage a protest against the political involvement and interference taking place in the university.

Tribhuvan University has been without a registrar since Paush 12, 2080. After the completion of the term of the registrar Peshal Dahal, the government has appointed Dr. Krishna Prasad Basyal as the acting registrar. After the post of registrar and rector became vacant, the Vice-Chancellor of TU issued a notice on 6th Chaitra and asked for applications to submit resumes within 7 days. Accordingly, the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Keshar Jung Baral has recommended the name of Prof. Dr. Khadga KC as Rector and Prof. Dr. Kedar Rijal as Registrar on Chaitra 15 to the Vice-Chancellor and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda. However, the appointment process has not progressed.
