600 Players In Friendship Taekwondo

Apr 09, Kathmandu- The fourth edition of the National Open Friendship Taekwondo Tournament will be held on Baisakh 2.

Organized by Koteshwor Taekwondo Dojang, co-organized by Napalese Taekwondo Academy (NTA) and with the support of International Open Friendship Taekwondo Championship (IOFTC), 600 players from all over the country will participate in the tournament.

Grandmaster Diwakar Marhajan, director of IOFTC, said that this competition is becoming important to give exposure to Nepalese players in international competitions through the competition. The games of the competition will be held at the National Sports Council (Rakhep) Covered Hall in Tripureshwor.

Participating athletes will compete in 12 events, 6 for women and 6 for men. Nabin Kumar Shrestha, coordinator of the competition, informed that there will be competition for a total of 44 gold medals in Gyorogi and Poomsema.

From this competition, one male/female from Poomsae and two male and two female players from the senior competition of Kyorugi will be selected for the International Open Taekwondo Championship to be held in South Korea on August 23 and 24. In addition, 6 selected players will get a prize of 50,000 rupees each.

According to the organizers, the top three teams of the competition will be awarded one lakh, 50,000 and 25,000 rupees respectively. 10,000 rupees each will be awarded to the best coach and judge.
