Chinese University's Sanskrit Fascination

Apr 11, Kathmandu- Beijing Foreign Studies University of China, which is in agreement with various prestigious universities of the world, reached Valmiki University on Wednesday. The Chinese team, which had previously signed an agreement with Tribhuvan University and Kathmandu University, reached Valmiki on Wednesday to sign an agreement with Nepal Sanskrit University.

A five-point cooperation agreement was signed today between the Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Yadav Prakash Lamichhane and Professor Dr. Wang Ding Hua, President of the Council of Beijing Foreign Studies University. According to the agreement, students will be exchanged between the university and foreign study. In addition, both universities will exchange each other's professors, academic personalities and academic administration officials.

Likewise, both universities will jointly conduct diploma, graduate and post-graduate level programs. According to the agreement, it is mentioned in the agreement that the two universities will collaborate to conduct joint research in the areas deemed necessary, and exchange educational materials and information with both universities.

It is also mentioned in the agreement that more homework will be done between the two universities for the implementation of the agreement, financial aspects will be consulted separately and the aspects not covered by the agreement will be negotiated separately. It is mentioned that the term of the agreement will be five years and will be renewed after the written consent of both parties.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Chinese University Council President Professor Hua said that the agreement will add a new dimension not only between the two universities but also to the diplomatic relations between Nepal and China. He informed that the Foreign Study University has already signed this type of agreement with the leading universities of one hundred and eighty-five countries in the world.

Professor Dr. Hua said that for intensive cooperation between the two universities, both should start exchanging academic knowledge and also start direct visits to each other's countries. Similarly, he thought that there should be cooperation between the two universities in the field of research.

Huale said that the Chinese university has shown special interest in studying Sanskrit and Nepali languages. He was of the opinion that the importance of Nesamvi in the study and teaching of Sanskrit language is universal.

Lamichhane, Vice-Chancellor of Nesamvi, said that the fascination of Chinese scholars towards Sanskrit language is worthy of respect and expressed his belief that there will be intensive cooperation between the two universities in the future.

The agreement signing ceremony was attended by Chairman Hua on behalf of Foreign Studies University, along with President Chu A of the School of Asian and African Studies, Director He Zheng and Director Jing Yun (Indira) of the Tribhuvan University School of Asian Studies.
