Even though the appointment of the vice-chancellor of TU is through the process, it has not yet been completed: Prime Minister Dahal

Apr 15, Kathmandu- Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has said that the appointment of the Vice Chancellor of Tribhuvan University (TU) is based on merit but has not yet been completed.

Prime Minister Dahal said this in a meeting with the academic group who came to express their gratitude to Tribhuvan University on Monday for arranging the formation of their group based on merit.

He said that the attention given by the academic group is important to prevent the encroachment of political interference in all academic institutions. He said that he initiated this initiative and claimed that the educational sector cannot be improved if the vice-chancellor and other officials are not appointed in the university based on merit. He said that once the VC is appointed, it will be easy for the VC and a team should be given and he is working accordingly.

He said, "During the convocation of TU, I made a public announcement there that I will now be the VC and officials of TU based on merit based on meritocracy. As mentioned here, the appointment of the VC was tried to be done through a process, although I still don't think it is complete. It still remains to be systematized. The topic of the registrar and the rector came up. It was said that after the VC is appointed, the VC will be comfortable and a team should be given and only in this way the universities can be brought to the right place".

Prime Minister Dahal said that healthy competition in all sectors is necessary to lay a new foundation for good governance, development and prosperity in the country.
