Bishop Stabbed During Livestreamed Sydney Church Service

Apr 16, Kathmandu- Australian police have called Monday's knife attack at a Sydney church an "act of terrorism" motivated by religion.

A bishop, a priest and others were attacked with knives during prayers at the Assyrian Christ the Good Shepherd Church. A 16-year-old boy has been arrested in this case. Police said that at least four people were injured in the incident. In this incident, the attacker was also injured.

Prayers were being broadcast live at this church in the Sydney suburb of Wakeley and the attack was also broadcast.

After the incident, hundreds of people gathered outside the church and clashed with the police. In the process, two policemen were injured and 20 police vehicles were damaged. The health workers who had reached there to treat the injured were also held hostage by the people for about three hours.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese held a meeting with national security agencies and described the attack as alarming. He said, 'We are a peace-loving country. There is no place for violence and extremism here.'

This is the second stabbing incident in Australia within a week. Six people were killed and many others were injured when a man threw a knife at a mall in Sydney.
