Apr 22, Kathmandu- Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari was shocked when she named the then General Secretary of UML i.e. her husband Madan Kumar Bhandari.

On the occasion of 75 years of the establishment of CPN, UML honored Bhandari with Rashtra Gaurav Vibhushan at the Diamond Jubilee celebrated at Godawari in Lalitpur. At the same time, she was very upset. She said that her political journey took a new turn after the death of Madan Kumar Bhandari in a mysterious jeep accident.

Feeling emotional, she said, "It is true, my political journey took a new turn after the then General Secretary of UML Madan Bhandari passed away in a mysterious jeep accident on Jestha 3, 2050. By the motivation of the CPN-UML and the desire of the cadre members and the people, an entry was made to become active in politics with more responsibility in the campaign to realize the incomplete dream of Madan. I became the president in 2072 when I was fulfilling the responsibility of the party".
