Transfer Of Russian Defense Minister Shoigu

May 13, Kathmandu- In the middle of the war with Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin is going to transfer Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.

The 68-year-old Shoigu has been in charge of the Ministry of Defense of Russia since 2012. Shoigu will now be appointed as the head of the Security Council.

In a statement issued by the Presidential Palace, it is said that Shoigu will be replaced by Deputy Prime Minister Andrey Belousov who will take charge of the Ministry of Defense.

Shoigu has played an important role in the ongoing war with Ukraine. Russian government documents have revealed that Putin wants Shoigu to take on the important role of head of the Security Council.

Shoigu is considered to be close to Putin and was put in charge of defense without any military experience.

Shoigu is a civil engineer by occupation. In 1990, Shoigu was elected as the head of the Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Relief.
