May 15, Kathmandu- The meeting of the board of the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) will be held today.

With the acquittal of cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane in the rape case, CAN is ready to decide on his inclusion in the team. The association has said that the board meeting will be held today to decide whether or not to include Sandeep in the T20 World Cup team. The ninth edition of the ICC T20 Cricket World Cup is being jointly organized in America and West Indies from June 1 to 29. 20 teams are participating in the World Cup.

The estimated time of International Cricket Council (ICC) is till May 1 to announce the team for the ninth World Cup. Accordingly, the CAN has also announced the 15-member team. The declared Nepali team consists of Rohit Kumar Paudel (captain), Aasif Sheikh, Anil Kumar Shah, Kushal Bhurtel, Kushal Malla, Dipendra Singh Airee, Lalit Rajvanshi, Karan KC, Gulsan Jha, Sompal Kami, Pratis GC, Sandeep Zora, Avinash Bohra, Sagar Dhakal and Kamal Singh Airee.

With the acquittal from the court, there is a possibility that Sandeep will be able to play in the upcoming T20 World Cup. Although the participating teams have already announced their squads for the World Cup, it is still possible to change the squads by showing proper reasons. The ICC has given time till May 24 to the participating nations of the World Cup to change their squads by showing a valid reason. Therefore, there is a possibility that every nation can change its team within that time.
