Sandeep Lamichhane's Suspension Lifted By CAN

May 15, Kathmandu- The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has lifted the suspension of cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane. Chairman Chatur Bahadur Chand issued a statement on Wednesday and informed that Lamichhane has been suspended from all domestic and international cricket activities due to the high court's verdict that he is innocent in the rape case.

On Wednesday, Patan High Court acquitted cricketer Lamichhane in the rape case, overturning the decision of District Court Kathmandu. The bench of Justice Sudarshandev Bhatta and Anju Upreti Dhakal overturned the decision of District Court Kathmandu saying that there was insufficient evidence.

The Kathmandu District Court had stated Lamichhane guilty in the rape case and sentenced him to 8 years in prison and a fine of 500,000. Lamichhane and the complainant went to the Patan High Court against the decision.
